First Aid - Feb 2010
Remember you must keep your First Aid qualifications up to date.
Minimum requirement is a Level 2 course with an accredited provider.
Emergency First Aid (Workplace First Aid Level One)
This course is of six hours duration, covering all of the above topics, as well as:
Assessment of the conscious patient.
Management of external bleeding.
Management of the patient in shock.
As time permits, topics relevant to specific workplaces.
The cost for this course is $95 per person (GST incl.)
Basic First Aid (Provide First Aid, Level Two)
This course has a nominal duration of sixteen four hours and again includes all of the above, as well as:
Altered conscious states.
Medical conditions, i.e. Heart attacks, Diabetes, Asthma, Anaphalaxis, etc.
Abdominal, chest, and pelvic injuries.
Bites and stings.
Over exposure to heat and cold.
The cost for this course is $175 per person. (GST incl.)
It should be noted that the duration and the cost for this course can be substantially reduced if participants hold a recognised first aid certificate that has just expired, or is about to expire.
Refresher - Basic First Aid Lv2 ( R.P.L.)
This course maintains your Level 2 qualifications.
Course duration sixteen hours. Actual contact hours 8, another 8 hours of pre-reading is required.
The cost for this course is $130 (GST incl.)
Continuing Basic First Aid
This course is run once every twelve months for about four hours each time, and every three years an updated Basic First Aid certificate is issued.
The advantage of this course is that participants receive a practical CPR refresher on a yearly basis, as recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council, and over that time also cover the rest of the curriculum necessary to achieve the required qualification.
It also provides participants with the opportunity to spread time and costs over a three-year period.
The cost for this course is $55 per person, per session (GST incl.)

All the above courses can be tailored to a large degree, to meet the specific needs of individual groups and workplaces.
Inclusive in these prices is a comprehensive workbook that covers all the topics and includes comprehensive review questions on all the material covered.
All other teaching aids such as resuscitation dolls, etc. are provided.
Group size, preferably not less than 6 and no more than 14 people.
Not included in these prices is the cost for premises to conduct the courses.
The use of one of the participants? home (lounge room), work premises, etc., will help keep costs down for everyone.
Upon completion of the course and achieving the necessary competencies, the participants will be issued with a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment
